The working group for the construction of Macao Sci-Tech Park held its first meeting of 2026

MACAU, August 7 - The Chief Executive, Mr Sam Hou Fai, chaired the first meeting of 2026 of the working group for the construction of the Macao Sci-Tech Park on 6th August to discuss its overall construction. During the meeting, members of the working group and the project design team reported on the progress of the construction, investment promotion, amendments to the MSAR Urban Master Plan, future work plans, and the design scheme of the Park.

The Chief Executive expressed satisfaction with the progress of the preparatory work for the Macao Sci-Tech Park and fully affirmed the suggestions put forward by the participating officials for building a successful Sci-Tech Park. He also thanked partner organisations, including the Zhongguancun Development Group, for their cooperation and support. He instructed all relevant departments to collaborate closely and accelerate their work to ensure the timely completion of all infrastructure and the high-quality achievement of established goals. Regarding the design of the Sci-Tech Park, he noted that appropriate space must be reserved for the sustainable development of the Sci-Tech Park once it becomes operational. At the same time, proactive measures should be deployed to attract talent in science and technology, taking multiple factors into consideration to attract more high-quality professionals to the Sci-Tech Park.

The Secretary for Economy and Finance, Ms Ng Wai Han, stated that under the guidance of Chief Executive, various departments and partner organisations have actively engaged and collaborated, allowing the Sci-Tech Park project to advance in an orderly manner. The next working phase will involve more professional input and a tighter schedule. She urged all departments to maintain a brisk pace, to implement all tasks strictly in accordance with the overall timeline, and to ensure that the construction targets for the first phase are achieved on schedule.

Also attending the meeting were the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Ms. O Lam, the Secretary for Transport and Public Works, Mr. Tam Vai Man, the Chief of the Office of the Secretary for Administration and Justice, Mr. Chang Cheong, the Chief of the Office of the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr. Lo Chi Fai, directors of various relevant departments, as well as representatives from Zhongguancun Development Group Co., Ltd. and the Beijing Industrial Designing and Researching Institute Co., Ltd.
